Art and Culture Program at OSI - Tajikistan is functioning since 1999.

Priority:

Support for rich intellectual life / suspension of brain drain

Objectives:

- Promoting the advocacy capacity of nongovernment sector of culture, creative people and representatives of culture, their active involvement in the legislative process and the process of decision-making, the creation of an independent capacity to monitor, criticism and influence public policy in order to provide the greatest possible freedom in the artistic environment.

- Promotion of intellectual horizons and cultural environment for the youth of RT and the creation of an environment in which representatives of culture and art prefer to stay or return regularly to Tajikistan

Tasks:

- Assist in the development and improvement of legal framework for the management of the cultural and arts sector, optimization mechanisms for the implementation of existing legal provisions and initiatives.

- Assistance in capacity building capable to lead the public deliberations, to participate in the drafting, discussion of strategically important documents in the field of culture and art, to develop media campaigns to influence cultural policy.

Perspectives:

• Assistance in the development of programs on culture and preparation of the reform legislation to regulate the activities of institutions of art and culture, creative independent non-governmental organizations, nonprofit organizations and associations.

• Conduction of music festivals, competitions, theater forums and events on revival and development of folk art culture in order to preserve the performing traditions formed over thousands of years, genres and forms of traditional music;

• Conduction of a collective and personal exhibitions, open educational presentations through master - classes.

• Providing small grants to support independent creative initiatives: to stage the play for young filmmakers, the establishment of studios, creative labs, art studios and etc.
