Goal:

To provide students, teachers, academicians and accredited specialists with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience in relevant areas and use this knowledge for the development of Tajikistan.

Scholarship Programme administered the following programmes in 2012-2013:

1. DOCTOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS:

o Central European University (3 years) –-degree programs in the Humanities and Social Sciences: Economics, Ecology, History, Law, Medieval Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Mathematics, and Philosophy. Website: http://www.ceu.hu

o Global Supplementary Grant Program- is a supplementary grants to students from select countries of Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia. The purpose of the program is to enable qualified students to pursue doctoral studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences at accredited universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America. o Bureau of Academic exchanges of Germany (DAAD) and "Open Society" Institute joint program- Long term program for undergraduate, postgraduate students and professors in the Universities of Germany. Specializations: Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Philosophy and Education and Public Health. Website www.daad.tj

2. MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS:

o Central European University: - Hungary. One-two year Master's degree program on the following fields: Economics (MA, PhD), Medieval Studies (MA, PhD), Environmental Sciences and Policy (MS, PhD), Nationalism Studies (MA), Gender Studies (MA, PhD), Philosophy (PhD), History (MA, PhD), Political Science (MA, PhD), International Relations and European Studies(MA), Sociology and Social Anthropology (MA, PhD), Legal Studies (LLM, MA, SJD), CEU Graduate School of Business(MBA, IMM, MS), Mathematics and its Applications (PhD), Master of Public Policy.

o University of Essex Scholarship in Human Rights: - Great Britain. One year Master's degree program on the human rights fields: MA in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights and LLM in International Human Rights Law.

o University of St. Andrews Scholarship: Great Britain. One year Master's degree program on the following fields: International Strategy and Economics, Middle Eastern and Central Asian Security Studies.

o Social Work Fellowship Program: USA. Columbia University and Washington University in St. Lois. Two year Master's degree program on the following fields: Social work planners and policy-makers, International social workers, Social work administrators, Clinical social workers, Child welfare or family services social workers, Child or adult protective services social workers, Mental health social workers, Health care social workers, School social workers, Criminal justice social workers, Occupational social workers, Gerontology social workers. o Open Society Institute - London, Centre National Des Ouvres Universitaires Et colaires (CNOUS) and Open Society Institute – Tajikistan joint scholarship program. The post diploma program at the Universities of France is for those who speak French. Fields of study offered: History, Philosophy, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Ethnology, Economic Theory, Theory of Law, and Public Administration.

3. RESEARCH PROGRAMS AND PROGRAMS FOR UNIVERSITY TEACHERS:

o Faculty Development Fellowship. FDF is a non-degree program that seeks to encourage pursuit of academic careers by outstanding junior faculty; and support the development of regional and international institutional partnerships and collaborative projects. Fields: Art History, Cultural Anthropology, History, Law, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion and Sociology. Each award recipient will spend 9 months at a university in the United States and return home to resume teaching.

o Global Faculty Program: the program in the current design is phasing out, but information about Global Faculty Grants will be forthcoming in January 2012;

o Curriculum Development Center. This 10-month grant is given to faculty from East-Central Europe, the former Soviet Union and Mongolia, who wish to develop new, innovative courses at their home universities in the discipline areas listed in our yearly call for proposals. Fields: Ecology, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology. Website: http://www.ceu.hu/crc/cdc.html

o Bureau of Academic exchanges of Germany (DAAD) and "Open Society" Institute joint program. Short term program for junior faculty in the Universities of Germany. Specializations: Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Philosophy and Education and Public Health.

o Curriculum Resource Center at the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest offer the possibility to university teachers from East Central Europe and the former Soviet Union to come to Budapest for a one-week visit and update their syllabi, work in the library, participate in roundtable discussions, buy new books, etc.

o Summer University at the Central European University is an academic program held at CEU, Budapest which offers courses in the social sciences and humanities for university teachers, administrators and professionals. The language of instruction is English. Website http://www.ceu.hu/sun
